Sourcing Non-Cliché Content for Channel 4’s Flagship Travel Documentary

When North One TV and celebrity motorcycle racer Guy Martin announced a 1,000-mile ride around India on a classic Royal Enfield, they wanted to avoid typical travel show clichés. They needed a fast-paced, high-energy documentary showcasing authentic local cultures and intense adventure sports.

We worked closely with their creative team to source engaging content and manage complex filming logistics across Himachal Pradesh. For major equipment packages and production infrastructure, we coordinated through our parent company, Goa Film Services. For complex national J-visas, the project utilized the film fixing in India advisory team to secure all necessary clearances.

Case Study: Guy Martin in India for Channel 4Creative Solutions and Practical Logistics

Instead of choosing predictable, high-cost locations, we proposed alternative settings that delivered the same visual impact with far easier logistics:

  • Palampur Tea Industry: Guy is a famous tea drinker so rather than hauling a full crew to Darjeeling, we shot at the tea plantations of Palampur, which are far more accessible from Delhi and close to Bir.

  • The Bir Paragliding Shoot: We managed permissions at Bir Billing, a record-breaking paragliding site. This allowed us to film Guy launching from a scenic mountain ridge and landing safely in a local Tibetan village on the same day.

  • The Road Journey: We managed support trucks, mechanical teams, and mobile filming permits to keep pace with Guy's motorcycle journey along challenging mountain routes.

This creative approach delivered high production value while keeping the project on schedule and on budget.

Direct Client Endorsement

"I worked alongside Tony for a Channel Four travelogue titled ‘Our Guy in India’. Tony was completely committed to the project and was a pleasure to work with. He helped to realise our vision and worked extremely hard to ensure that our goals were met, often having to carry out recce’s and arrange permits at short notice, which really isn’t easy in India. He assisted with the whole process from researching potential stories, attaining visa’s, and finding contributors to arranging vehicles, escorting us around the country and generally ensuring that filming ran smoothly when out in India. Tony fitted within the team with ease and quickly became the 6th member of the crew. I have since recommended Tony to people within the industry and will continue to do so."
